電子メッセージ（メール、ニュースグループ、掲示板、IRC、チャットなど）は「言葉を発する」よりも格段に永遠的で、気が変わったあとでも残ってしまうもの。
紙に書かれたメッセージと違い、一度発してしまうともう止められない。さらに簡単にコピーができ、再発信もできる。つまりあなたの知らないところで誰かがそれを目にし、ネガティブな印象をもつ。
